Nacimiento Reservoir fell to 64% of its storage capacity, and anglers reported another great week of fishing. The bite dipped slightly after the last cold front, but it soon picked up again. Just about any technique seemed to be working, with topwater, reaction baits, and finesse baits among the favorites. Walking baits, poppers, and prop baits all worked well, especially during low-light conditions, while crankbaits and jerkbaits also fooled aggressive spotted bass. Senkos, hula grubs, and drop shot rigs produced solid results, with top colors including green pumpkin, ox blood, and Aaron’s Magic. White bass were reported throughout the lake, but the Las Tablas area produced plenty of action for anglers using topwater lures, spoons, and swimbaits. Crappie took small swimbaits, mini jigs, and live minnows, and catfish anglers did well near the marina using cut mackerel, sardines, and dip bait.
