After the recent storms, Lake Nacimiento rose to 60 percent of its storage capacity. Fishing was very good over the weekend, but reports slowed after the rain moved in. Bass anglers found some spawning fish scattered around the lake. Brown hula grubs, spider jigs, and drop shot rigs produced steady numbers and an occasional three-pound female. Small swimbaits and squarebill crankbaits also fooled biting bass. White bass held near cove mouths, and anglers caught them on spoons and small live minnows. The crappie bite continued to improve for anglers working 10 to 20 feet of water with minijigs. Catfish were available on cut mackerel and dip bait.
